23/24 Semester 2 Week 10

Hey, brickies!

Welcome to week 10! Lá Fhéile Pádraig! Hope you all enjoyed the nice long weekend. Just because we’re nearing the end of the semester doesn’t mean Redbrick are slowing down!

We have a lot of exciting events coming up for you! This week we have a session hosted by Dell all about the tips and tricks for nailing technical interviews and after that we have our Hackerclub on DevOps, which covers topics such as Docker, CI/CD, Makefiles and more! The following week we have our AGM along with our annual pub quiz! We hope to see you all at the events!

It’s AGM season and Redbrick will be hosting its AGM next Wednesday the 27th of March from 6-7.30pm in CG86. All positions are available so if you think you have what it takes to be on the committee, come on down and run! If you are interested in running for SysAdmin, Helpdesk or Webmaster, you will need to sit the respective exams in order to be eligible to run. Here are the dates and times for the exams:

• Sysadmin Exam: Thursday 21st March, 7pm - Friday 22nd March, 7pm
• Helpdesk Exam: Wednesday 20th March, 3pm - 4pm
• Webmaster Exam: Wednesday 20th March, 4pm - Thursday 21st March, 4pm

During the AGM we will be ratifying our open governance documents, please read through them in advance of the AGM as you will be asked to vote them in on the day. You can find the documents here.

Dell Interview Prep

Are you interested in getting a summer internship or are thinking about INTRA but the thought of doing a technical interview is daunting? Well Dell is here to save the day! They will be coming to L114 on the 20th of March from 1-2pm to give you all the tips and tricks to help you ace those interviews! Pizza will be provided!

Redbrick AGM

Want to help shape the future of Redbrick? Fancy yourself a spot on next year’s committee? Well now’s your chance! Our AGM will be taking place on Wednesday the 27th of March from 6-7.30pm in CG86. All positions are up for grabs and will require you to give a short speech about why you want the role and what you would do if elected. If you are interested in running, make sure to come along! Some committee positions require you to sit an exam in order to be eligible to run, so make sure to check the dates and times of the exams above.

Redbrick Pub Quiz

Get your thinking caps on for our annual pub quiz! We will have some Redbrick specific rounds along with general knowledge, movies, music and more! It’s the perfect time to relax and unwind with your fellow brickies. The pub quiz begin in Nubar on Wednesday the 27th of March from 7.30-9pm. Looking forward to beating you all! ;)

Want to learn the ins and outs of efficiently deploying code? Got a taste of tools like Docker at last week’s admin bootcamp and want to learn more? Then come along to our Hackerclub this week where we will discuss topics such as CI/CD, Makefiles and more! It will be taking place on Wednesday the 20th of March from 2-4pm in L125. We will also have pizza!
